The Z Word: A Zillow Poem

The Z Word.jpg

At night I lay awake on my pillow,

Tossing and turning and thinking of Zillow.

Nightmarish thoughts creep inside my head,

Of clients proclaiming, “well… Zillow said.”

“Our home’s worth three million but you list it at two?

We should have gone FSBO there’s no need for you!”

“And you heard this where?” I try to be calm.

“Well Trulia…and Zillow…. and realtor.com!”

The Z-word is dropped and I let out a scream!

Now upright and sweaty awake from the dream.

Relief settles in it was just in my head,

I’ll check my emails real quick then I’ll go back to bed.

Got one from Ken subject: “This one looks great!”

A house from my buyer?  That’s something I hate.

I question my work and I start to get pissed.

Do I suck at my job is there something I missed?

So I look up the address and virtual tour,

Then I discover it sold back in 2004!

I called up my buyer, “why’d you send this to me?”

“Some website had it… that one with the Z!”

“I think you mean Zillow,” I gasped in defeat.

This woke up my wife who kicked at my feet.

She sat up and said, “you know what I think is funny?”

That website you hate takes like all of your money.”
